Fertility

“阴阳之道,合则聚,不合则离;合则成,不合则败”

《景岳全书.妇人规》

Infertility is defined as a couple not being able to conceive after 1 year of regular unprotected intercourse. However, as fertility rate declines with age, if a woman is above 35 years old, it is advisable to seek help after 6 months of regular unprotected intercourse. Spontaneous miscarriages of more than 2 times can also be categorised under infertility. Infertility involves both the man and woman.

In TCM, fertility is closely related to the kidney, liver and spleen. Through the use of Chinese medicine and/or acupuncture, TCM aims to nourish the kidney and spleen, balance the yin and yang, and regulate circulation in order to achieve pregnancy. Other than couples with infertility, those who are planning to conceive can also use TCM to prepare the body for conception.
